Why play the Barnardo’s Weekly Lottery?
The Barnardo’s Weekly Lottery is a fun way to help support children and young people across the UK, whilst having the chance to win fantastic prizes! Together our lottery players raised £1,440,166 from ticket sales in 2023, and 77.11% of that went towards helping children – that’s an amazing £1,110,444.32! Funds like these are changing childhoods and helping give more children a better start in life. Whether you win or not, you’ll be helping change lives. There’s no better feeling than that!
I've spoken to a fundraiser in the street/at my door, is this legitimate?
All our fundraisers wear Barnardo's branded clothing and display photo identification that states that they are working on our behalf. If you need reassurance that a fundraiser is legitimate or if you have another query, please contact our Supporter Care team by emailing supportercare@barnardos.org.uk or calling 0800 008 7005.
How many entries can I have in each weekly draw?
You can buy up to six entries per week online. That's the equivalent of £30 per month on Direct Debit.
If you would like to buy more than six entries, please get in touch with our Supporter Care team by emailing supportercare@barnardos.org.uk or calling 0800 008 7005.

You will receive a confirmation email immediately, and we will send you written confirmation of your Direct Debit by post within 10 working days. This letter will also contain your unique lottery number(s) and the date of the first draw you will be entered into.
How will I know if I’ve won?
If you are a winner we will let you know by post. Winnings will automatically be paid into the bank account your Direct Debit comes out of. We also post winner information on our website.
How are winners chosen?
Winners are picked using a random number generator (RNG), which has been tested and approved to meet the standards set by the Gambling Commission.
What are the chances of me actually winning a prize?
The chances of winning a prize in Barnardo's Weekly Lottery and Raffle Superdraws vary from draw to draw, depending on the number of people playing. Weekly Lottery odds are estimated at 1 in 180 based on the average number of players during 2023. Superdraw odds are estimated at 1 in 489 based on entries into the draws in 2023.
Where does the money for prizes come from?
The costs of prizes are covered by the money raised by ticket sales, and we plan carefully to ensure that we raise more funds through our lotteries than we give away in prizes. In 2023, 12.29% of income was spent on prizes, 10.61% on expenses and 77.10% of ticket sales went directly to Barnardo’s work with children.
How much of my lottery entry goes to helping children?
Barnardo’s receives 100% of all lottery entry funds, and pays for the weekly prizes and expenses out of this income. After prizes and expenses are paid, a fantastic 77% of the money generated by our lotteries goes towards helping vulnerable children, young people and families across the UK. In 2023, that was an amazing £1,157,299.39!
